Client Services
Pregnancy Resource Center East provides free, confidential and caring support through all the stages a woman experiences when facing a crisis, or unplanned, pregnancy. We truly are bridging the gap, from crisis to resolution.
- From the moment a young woman thinks she may be pregnant and reaches out to us for help, the Center provides loving care to help her sort things out. A well-trained, compassionate peer counselor will listen to her and help her set up an appointment.
- During the first visit, a peer counselor will assist the client with a free, confidential self- administered pregnancy test.
- Whether the test comes out positive or negative, there's a lot to talk about in the follow-up counseling. The PRCE cares about all aspects of their clients' lives - physical, emotional, and spiritual.
Negative
If the pregnancy test comes out negative, the client (and her partner, hopefully) will receive abstinence counseling and education on sexually transmitted diseases
- for their physical well-being.
It is the goal of the PRCE to help educate clients so that they will not find themselves in the same situation again. The stress that accompanies an unplanned or crisis
pregnancy is harmful
to emotional well-being.
Most importantly, the staff and volunteers at the Center will pray with them or help them strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ
- their spiritual well-being.
Positive
For the client whose test turns out positive, we give her HOPE. The HOPE Program is a comprehensive plan to provide practical, caring support to clients facing an unplanned pregnancy.
For their physical well-being, and the well-being of their baby, the clients will be given truthful, accurate information on the risks and procedures involved in abortions. Adoption opportunities will be discussed also. The woman (and her partner) can receive abstinence counseling and education on STD's. And finally, there will be classes in nutrition, health and safety and prenatal medical care will be encouraged because there's another little life to take care of now.
For emotional well-being, the HOPE Program provides maternity and baby items for the new mom until the baby is 1 year old. This helps relieve any anxiety and concerns about providing for necessities.
For their spiritual well-being, the HOPE Program Bible study (for both men and women), the Parenting Classes (for moms and dads) will help build strong foundations for the clients' new lives. Nothing in their lives will be the same when the new arrival comes. HOPE-fully, it will be even better because of their new relationship with Christ and the love that has been poured out on them by caring men and women that work in and support the PRCE.
- Abortion-minded clients can receive pre-abortion counseling, which is a legal right of women in the state of Texas. Ultrasounds are offered as part of our pre-abortion counseling to "at risk" women. The Center has been blessed with ultrasound equipment and trained medical personnel who give of their time and talents to operate it.
- To help people reconcile a past abortion decision, we refer clients (both men and women) to a Biblically-based 12-week study and support group. For more info, contact the Center. There's also some helpful information at the PRCE client website.
In addition to the various client services described above, the Center also provides inspirational speakers who will make informational and educational presentations as an outreach to local civic, social, church and school groups. Topics may include:
- our main ministry (crisis pregnancy support/intervention)
- the HOPE program
- Abstinence education
- Post-abortion recovery
